IK Scientific Product Spotlight: Extreme duty K-type Thermocouples

Some of the hardest working thermocouples are found in industrial engines, more specifically, turbocharged natural gas engines.

We offered a cost-effective alternative to expensive original replacement parts for the Co-Generation power plant's engines that run on landfill gas. These engines operate continuously using landfill methane to generate electricity for the grid. Special thermocouples record the exhaust gas temperature of each engine cylinder and are typically at 1200 F during steady state operation, enduring blistering heat and running non-stop, except for routine maintenance. These engines can run uninterrupted for up to 500 hours at a stretch.
